Champagne Brunch Bargain in Tulsa

This weekend Dianne and I enjoyed a fantastic buffet at the Creek Nation Casino in Tulsa. Every Sunday they offer a Champagne Brunch for $16 per person. That is a pretty big bargain for such a diverse buffet including soft drinks and champagne. The buffet included: seafood, asian food, premium beef, every breakfast item I have ever heard of and a vast array of delicate little pastries, tarts, tiny cheescake bites and itty bitty eclairs.

I tried cheese blintzes for the first time as Dianne quietly hoarded a king's ransom worth of creme cheese and lox. Dianne reports that the champagne was wonderful, but suggest everyone skip the champagne cocktails they offer and drink it straight! Bubbly is sweet enough without adding orange juice or cranberry juice.

Canoe Race - Paddle Across Missouri This July

Ozark area paddlers looking for adventure might want to consider signing up for the 2010 Missouri River 340.

The Missouri 340 is an endurance race across the state of Missouri. Competitors will start in Kansas City and finish in St. Charles. There are no dams, locks or portages on this stretch of the Missouri. The Missouri 340 course is all on Class I water. The current is about 3 mph and there are no rapids. Participants are allowed exactly 88 hours to complete the course for both glory and cash prizes.

Sign-up for the canoe race is available now at http://www.rivermiles.com/ with race dates being July 27-30, 2010. Canoes & kayaks are both welcome in this race. However, each race craft must be propelled exclusively by paddle power (double or single blade) while on the water. No rowing configuration is permitted. No sail or kite is permitted.

It won't be easy, but it is the world's longest non-stop kayak and canoe river race.
